Snowflake

Overview

The Snowflake connector runs SQL on a warehouse you choose and returns typed rows to the workflow. Queries can start runs on a schedule, read a table stream for new rows or run mid-workflow as a lookup, and every query shows up in the trace of its run.

Teams use it to flag accounts in Salesforce when usage drops, to reconcile Stripe payouts against the ledger and to write model scores back for Databricks jobs to pick up.

Supported editions

• Standard, Enterprise and Business Critical, on AWS, Azure or Google Cloud

• Key-pair authentication for a service user, or OAuth

• AWS PrivateLink and Azure Private Link on Business Critical

How batch queries work

Tessel sends each query through the Snowflake SQL API with a query tag, so you can find it in query history. Results come back in pages and are checked against the expected columns. Writes are staged and loaded with COPY INTO, so a retry never loads the same batch twice.

Cost

Give Tessel its own extra-small warehouse with a short auto-suspend, so it only bills while a query runs. Each step can set a statement timeout, and the trace shows the credits each query used.

Permissions needed

Create a service user with key-pair authentication and a dedicated role. It needs read access to the schemas workflows query and write access to one staging schema only.
