Intercom

Overview

The Intercom connector subscribes to webhook topics on a Tessel app installed in your workspace. Each notification includes the full conversation or contact object, so the workflow starts with everything it needs and the payload is stored in the trace.

Teams use it to tag conversations from accounts with an open Stripe dispute, to assign enterprise customers to their account manager and to update HubSpot when a new lead starts a chat.

• conversation.user.created, conversation.user.replied and conversation.admin.closed

• contact.user.created and contact.lead.created

• Ticket events on workspaces that use Intercom tickets

How webhooks work

Intercom posts each notification with an X-Hub-Signature header, an HMAC of the body signed with the app's client secret. Tessel verifies it, deduplicates by notification ID and pins requests to one API version, so payloads stay stable.

API versions

Tessel sends Intercom-Version: 2.11 on every request. When a new version ships, you can test it on a copy of the connection before you switch live workflows over.

Permissions needed

Install the Tessel app in your workspace with OAuth. It needs read access to conversations and contacts for events. Write permissions are only used by the reply, assign, tag and close actions.
