Overview
The Workday connector reads workers through Reports as a Service, so you decide exactly which fields Tessel sees. Each run compares the report with the last one and emits typed events for new, changed and ended workers, and every event appears in the trace of the run it started.
Teams use it to create Okta and Entra ID accounts from future-dated hires, to load headcount into Snowflake each night, and to send managers a Slack approval when a job change alters access.
Supported plans
Workday HCM, on production and implementation tenants
Custom reports enabled as web services, in JSON format
Human Resources web service v42.0 and later for writes
How report runs work
Tessel calls your custom report on the schedule you set, as often as every 15 minutes. Rows are keyed by worker ID, checked against the schema and compared with the previous run to find changes. Effective dates are kept, so a hire entered today for next month fires on its start date.
Large exports
Reports with tens of thousands of workers are read in pages and streamed into the run. A full run of 50,000 workers usually finishes in under two minutes.
Permissions needed
Create an integration system user and add it to an integration system security group. Grant domain access in Workday security policies, then activate pending changes. Put permissions only on the domains your report uses.
